Dünya üzerinde en büyük etki yaratan dış etkenlerden biri olan rüzgarlar Dünyamızda bulunan tüm fırtınaların baş aktörü. Fakat güneş üzerinde oluşan hortumların en büyük sebebi çok yüksek değerlere sahip olan manyetik alan çizgileri. Manyetik alanlarda oluşan bir kesişme sonucu Güneş yüzeyinde dev hortumlar görülmekte. Bazıları Dünyamızdan daha büyük olan bu hortumlar radyasyon ve  yüksek sıcaklıkta plazmaların manyetik alan güçleriyle derin yarıklara sebep olup belli bir ivme kazanıp dönüşüm başlatmasıyla oluşuyor.
